Be Proud to be a Salsa Beginner Student!

May 1, 2014

Let’s go find a beginner salsa class!

Hey we all start somewhere!

Many people are timid, nervous, even TOO SCARED  to join a dance class!

Imagine all the people sitting at home or in a pub, or on holiday wishing they could dance, thinking oh one day I’ll try. Or they took one class, and stopped!

Some people are so terrified, they never even TRY! But that’s not you! Nothing ventured nothing gained!

Finding a salsa dance lesson!
Dance schools are structured differently! Many dance schools have introductory lessons at a reduced fee, maybe even free! Take advantage of online deals: Groupon, or wowcher deals, BEFORE YOU BUY: read the fine print and look at their schedules! Maybe the class location is across town, or the classes are held on the one night you can’t attend!

Remember, You get what you paid for!

Decide and commit.

In the beginning, devote a bit of time so that you can get over the initial beginner learning curve!

 Quick formula for fast learning:

Moderate budget
small group classes 1-2 per week
1 private lesson per week.
practise (at home, with a friend, or stay at the practise time sometimes offered after the lessons!)
listen to the type of music you are learning to dance to!

or for a super charged start
attend a Salsa Beginner Bootcamp (more than 4 hours!) 1-2 day intensive
then start the above formula

Bigger budget
small group class (there is even classes where they provide a experience dance partner at an additional cost!)
1-2 2-hour private lessons

Low budget
find a friend who knows how to dance
attend the free salsa nights (but please at least buy a drink!)
I don’t always recommend this route, just because someone knows how to dance doesn’t mean they know how to teach.

Students?!?
look for the university dance clubs!

Now go looking! Then go DANCING!
