We PARTIED for a PURPOSE and made a difference! Two events in two towns were held to raise funds for earthquake victims of Nepal. On May 8 at the normal monthly Salsa Bachata Social Club held in Reading’s Yates all the door fees went to charity. On May 31 we held a special Latin Night with hog roast in Henley-on-Thames’ Pachangas. Together these two events raised £4533!
I have a good friend who taught salsa in Nepal for 9 years and she was able to put me in contact with a small village that is in desperate need of help. We found a UK register charity that is willing to send the funds directly to the village.
I couldn’t have done this without the support of some great salsa teachers and DJs: Nicolai V, Karen (Bachata Karino), Dean David, and DJ Tuli…. and of course salsa dancer Vivienne Jane (owner of Chocolate Theatre Cafe) who headed the Henley event.
